Resume!

Posted at around 3pm, 23/11/2025.

On the recommendation of a gentleman I'm working with, I'll add a broad-strokes resume here alongside the actual portfolio work I've already got done before now - might as well make my qualifications and experience clear, right? I'm not going to present this in exactly the same way I would a CV - after all, if you're reading this, there's a non-zero chance you've already got it! - but it'll be a decent, broad-strokes interpretation of what I've achieved, plus some neat things a couple of my references have to say about me.

Qualifications

I may as well list them out, it's easier to approach it from that angle. There's quite a few of them, so while not all of them will necessarily suit every role, feel free to pick and choose - like it's a smorgasbord, perhaps!

  • A 2:1 in BA (Hons) Games Design - you'll see a lot of stuff relating to that around here, including my two third-year projects!
  • In college, I attained a MMP in Level 3 BTEC Media, coupled with a Distinction in Level 2 BTEC Music.
  • As base necessities go, I've got an 8 in GCSE English Language (plus an 8 in GCSE English Literature), and an 8 in GCSE Maths (and a 7 in GCSE Statistics).
  • Beyond those, my other 2020 qualifications include a Distinction Star in BTEC Level 2 ICT, a 9 in GCSE Design & Technology, an 8/7 in GCSE Combined Science, and a Merit in Level 2 Vcert Health and Fitness.

Skills

My nature as something of an infovore (and a willingness to give almost anything a stab!) means I'm actually in a decent spot as skills go. Obviously, the one I think is the most valuable is my ability to learn new things - it's always good to know what you can know, after all, but it's always better to know more! Still, I'll list out a few skills just for the benefit of having them here!

  • I'm skilled with the use of industry-standard tools and equipment, having worked with programs like Unreal Engine 4/5 and Autodesk Maya during my degree, while I'm also just as skilled at the use of more mundane programs - the likes of the Microsoft Office suite, or open-source tools like Paint.net or Audacity, are pretty much second nature to me.
  • Beyond just my skills with the use of tools, I'm also rather effective at research, with a love for developing a deep understanding of things. This, coupled with my work in design and a very meticulous, detail-oriented approach help really set me apart from the rest of the pack.
  • I've also got pretty effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms! With a solid command of the English language (and one I'm always happy to develop further!), I'm able to express myself in a professional and courteous manner. This helps me present my thoughts, interact with others, and simply leave a good, lasting impression on those I meet.
  • On that note, I'm also very much a team player, but I'm also fully capable of working in a self-directed manner - so long as I've got a good sense of direction in terms of what's required of me. Both of those were skills I was able to develop during university; a big focus in both cases was time/project management skills!
  • Beyond all of that, I'm adaptable and flexible, if given a little notice. While I, of course, have my specialised skills - my own experiences and constant willingness to learn place me in a lucky position where I can really take things in stride - a jack of all trades, perhaps.

Extracurricular

Beyond just my passion for the academic side of things, I've got a decent amount of experience in voluntary work and all kinds of different places - to the point that I've even attained a Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award! I was a Scout and a Sea Cadet when I was younger, while I've been involved in voluntary work with my local council - advocating for the rights and views of children and young people in care (and care leavers) for as long as I can remember, in pretty much any role under the sun. (From involvement in youth interview panels, and the development and administering of professional training, all the way to presentation and event hosting - I'm something of a familiar face over there!)

Beyond that... I'm also something of a self-professed infovore. I've always had a love for learning, research, and reading - literally for as long as I can remember. It might seem odd, but a baseline awareness of a ton of random trivia and assorted general knowledge is the sort of thing that comes in shockingly handy more than you might expect. I'll admit, I've found myself wasting a couple of hours just trawling through Wikipedia articles more than once... oops. Still, any opportunity to learn new things and develop new skills is one I'll happily jump to!
