Welcome to Ludohive!

Home Page

Ludohive. Portmanteau of "Ludo": of/relating to games, and "Hive": a thriving place of work.

I'm Bee! Welcome to my website. There's a nice little mix of things to mess around with here, whether that be looking through my portfolio of demos, checking out some of my blogposts and random ideas, or whatever else you might use this place for. That's up to you!

The nice thing about a website on a place like Neocities is that, firstly, it's free and open-source (totally toss them a few quid if you can though, it's worth it!) and you essentially get full control over your stuff. Cool, right? Better than messing around with prefabs that look like everyone else's. Of course, my own HTML skills leave a little to be desired, but in that sense, you can consider this website itself to be a cool showcase of my willingness to learn new things!

Front-Facing Portfolio

When it comes to showcasing your work, I've always been told it's smart to put your best foot forward. With that in mind; this area's going to be a showcase of some of my personal favourites. However, a more extensive showcase of random ideas and the like can usually be found in my Blog section.

Webmail (Sep. 2024 - May 2025)

A project developed during my third year in university, specifically as a part of my XB3001 Game Proposal module. You play as the Courier, a digital delivery specialist who has to collect emails scattered across the Internet. Avoid Malware, hunt down Email, and get the fastest time to be the greatest bundle of electrons out there!

Major focus with this project was on mechanics, though elements of level design came into play as well. With elements like rail-grinding, air-dashing and wall-running, the game's got a fast, fluid, arcade-like quality.

Electroquest (Sep. 2024 - May 2025)

Another third-year project, this time as a part of my XB3992 Honours Project. You're Cell, a battery with the power to use your life force to attack the forces of Standardisation! Graze enemy projectiles to build up your energy, then spend it with a variety of powerful attacks. How long will you survive? When I get around to it, click here for more info! (WIP, for now.)

Another mechanical test, this time centred more on a top-down gameplay style. The original concept behind this was to have a focus on novel inventory mechanics, but focus shifted toward more basic elements like the grazing system, unique circular UI, and additional stuff relating to collision and weapon variety. When I get around to it, click here for more info! (WIP, for now.)

Card Clash (May - June 2025)

A personal "microproject" with something of an unusual self-enforced brief; to create a game entirely contained to a business card. Read more about it here!

Something of a challenge to myself, after wondering how I could differentiate my business cards from the pack. The main challenge with this project was ensuring that the game was actually fun, while also keeping additional equipment and setup to a minimum - all while still ensuring the cards work as business cards. Thankfully, also an opportunity for me to flex a little bit of graphic design.
